Brentwood (18-4) defeated Huntington (14-4), 43-36,  in an exciting first round dual of the Suffolk County Dual Championships held at Brentwood HS. Brentwood stormed out to a 31-12 lead before Huntington rallied and won five consecutive bouts including an overtime victory by reigning county champion John Arceri. Arceri edged Carlos Aucancela with an overtime escape and emerged with a 2-1 OT win in the 113-pound bout. The Blue Devils were also led by pins by Brandon Mendez (160), JP Puca (170) and Mock brothers; Ryan (99) and Kyle who registered a first period fall at 120. Brentwood's Kelvin Mejia got the host team started in the opening match with a fall in the 138-pound class. Other Indian standouts were Jonathan Lazo (152), Hernan Funes ( a pin winner at 182) and Kevin Garcia with a pivotal fall in the 220-pound bout. After Isac Brizuela received a forfeit at 126, Brentwood's Michael Cordona (132) pinned his opponent at the 1:26 mark and helped the host team emerge with a thrilling 43-36 victory. The Indians advanced to the quarterfinal round on Saturday and face the second-seeded  John Glenn (17-1) at 12 Noon @ Islip HS.

   Huntington HS is the state leader with 26 NYS champions and Brentwood has crowned 12 state champions.. These legendary programs set the stage in the opening dual of the inaugural Suffolk Duals as both squads competed in a action-packed meet. In another opening match Patchogue-Medford (17-1) edged an improved Miller Place (22-3), 29-28.
