St. Anthony’s (14-6 in duals) tallied 254 points to outdistanced Monsignor Farrell (209.5) and rival Chaminade (178.5) at the CHSAA Championships held at Chaminade HS. The Friars crowned seven champions including four-time titlist and two-time state placer Freddy Dunau at 138 pounds. The trio of John Twomey (38-1), Ben Lamantia (120) and Joseph Russ (38-4) at 126, also claimed gold medals.
Chaminade’s lone champion was Connor Watson (32-2), who earned the Most Pins Award, he rolled through the 182-pound bracket. Team runners-up Monsignor Farrell garnered three individual winners; Karl Weisner (145), Michael Newman (195) along with defending state champion Rich Sisti (34-0, 25 falls, 126-14 career) who recorded a first period fall in the falls and won the 220-pound class.
