Connetquot HS (19-0) upended Northport (13-7), 52-14. in the quarterfinal round of the Suffolk County Dual Meet Championships. The host T'Birds won ten bouts and were paced by the Medina brothers; Julian (24-5) a junior at 116 and Jayden (31-1) at 145 pounds, both posted first period pins in their respective bouts. Other standouts were Ethan Hauser (101), Ruari Moore (124) and tough Roman Obert-Thorn (27-5) at 152. Thorn was embroiled in the marquee match of the dual in a back-and-forth bout as he edged highly-regarded Chris Holm with a key third period escape and a single leg takedown en route to a 5-2 decision.
Connetquot will face East Islip (15-4) in the semi final round on Saturday at 12 PM at Bay Shore HS. That winner will advance to the championship match at 3 PM.
Northport was led by reigning state champion Matt Marlow (28-3) who used a tight overhead cradle for a fall at the 2:45 mark of the 131-pound bout. Another key win for the Tigers was turned in by Tim McLam who posted a solid 12-0 major decision at 138 pounds. Northport defeated Lindenhurst, 38-33, in the opening round of the tournament.

Connetquot's Jayden Medina (31-1) works his arm bar to a first period fall in 145 pound action in the quarterfinals of the Suffolk Dual Meet tournament. Medina led the Thunderbirds to a solid 52-14 win over Northport.
Returning state champ Matt Marlow (28-3) put Northport on the board with a second period fall at 131 pounds.
