NC State's Ryan Jack, a 2023 NCAA qualifier, works his bar arm on Hofstra's Alex Turley. Jack won this  141 pound bout 21-4.

In a battle of nationally ranked wrestlers, returning ACC champion Owen Trepham (10-4) of NC State single legs  Keaton Kluever (7-2) of Hofstra to take this heavyweight bout with an 11-3 decision.

North Carolina State All-American Ed Scott works for his first period fall over Hofstra's Jurius Clark at 157 pounds. Scott is 15-2 on the year and ranked 5th.

MAT NOTES:
North Carolina State (10-2) defeated Hofstra (3-3), 43-5, at the David S. Mack Physical Education Center on a Sunday morning dual meet before close to 450 fans. The Wolfpack responded with a solid team showing after dropping a home meet to NCAA power Oklahoma State (5-0), 22-12, on Friday night. NC State currently ranked 7th in the nation won nine of the contested bouts, including one fall, three tech falls and four major decisions. The Wolfpack showed their takedown dominance, as they used a barrage of single leg takedowns in the bouts. The Wolfpack were led by Ryan Jack (12-2), a four-time Connecticut state champion, at 141 and returning All-American Ed Scott (15-2) who used a tight bar arm for a first period pin at 157 pounds. Head coach Pat Popolizio has been at the helm for 12 years.


Hofstra was led by freshman Noah Tropia (12-9), a former Illinois state champion, who used a series of double leg takedowns and tilts en route to an impressive 21-3 tech fall at 149 pounds. In attendance at the meet was Hofstra's lone NCAA champion, Nick Gallo, who won the 126-pound title and OSW Award at the 1977 NCAA Championships. Head coach Dennis Papadatos is now in his eleventh season for the Pride. The next home meet for Hofstra is against EIWA rival, LIU, on Saturday, January 27th at 1PM.
