At 125, OSU's upstart freshman Brendan McCrone (8-2) defeated veteran DylanRyder (3-2) of Hills West HS, as he used a barrage of single leg takedowns and secured the fall with a tight cross-face cradle midway through the second period. Another pin was turned in by highly-touted Nic Bouzakis as he flattened Ryan Arbeit with an overhead cradle at the 1:03 mark in their 133-pound bout.
In one of the key bouts, #5 - Carson Kharchla (6-1) scored with double leg takedowns en route to a solid 17-3 major decision over junior Ross McFarland (Phoenix HS) at 174 pounds.

Two-time NCAA finalist Sammy Sasso was on the bench in support of his Buckeye teammates. As many should recall, Sasso was injured this past summer in a robbery attempt in Columbus, Ohio. He said in a post-match brief interview: " I am feeling good and my recovery is going well." All the wrestling fans throughout the nation wish him a speedy recovery and look forward to seeing him back on the mat.
Former Pride head coach Tommy Ryan received a warm welcome as many former wrestlers and friends surrounded him mat side at the conclusion of the dual meet. The wrestling mat that coach Ryan purchased and had refurbished during his tenure as Hofstra head coach was used to host the dual meet action. Ryan now has an impressive 202- 66 career dual meet record at Ohio State.
