Massapequa (6-3) defeated CHSAA power Chaminade, 42-16, before a packed crowd at Massapequa HS. The Chiefs won 9 of the 13 contested bouts and opened the scoring with sophomore Luke Anderson who countered a takedown attempt with a nice elevator and roll through enroute to a solid 8-4 decision against Chaminade junior Lucas Griffin in their 108-pound bout. Massapequa had solid wins from Matt Reehil (6-1) with hard-fought 6-5 win against highly-regarded sophomore Brendon Katimbang (12-2) at 131 and Nathan Wachter (9-1) who used a tight bar-arm for a fall at the 2:37 mark in the 138-pound bout. In perhaps the marquee match of the dual Chaminade senior Matty Martin (9-2) edged Austin Kreen (8-3) in a back-and-forth match and emerged with a 6-5 verdict at 145. The Flyers other winners were Emilio Maimone (7-3 win) vs Jandy Fernandez at 101, NateFabuman with a 16-7 major decision against Ethan Kaminsky at 190 and freshman Landon Lee with a 2:45 fall at 215.

Massapequa's Luke Anderson's father, Rich Anderson, was a 1986 Nassau County champion and a NYS place-winner while competing at Berner HS. The head coaches; Coach Cole (Chaminade), now in his 11th year at the helm and Coach McCann (Massapequa) in his second year, had their respective teams display competitiveness and sportsmanship throughout the dual meet. In attendance at the dual were former National-Hall-of-Fame members and legendary high school wrestling coaches Gary Mims (MHS) and Chaminade's George Dlugolonski. Also present was former Berner HS standout wrestler and four-time county placer Mike Doherty.
