Top ranked Penn State is led by Carter Starocci (21-0, 98-2 career) the number one wrestler at 184 pounds. He will seek an unprecedented fifth NCAA crown and try to help the Nittany Lions capture their 13th NCAA team title.

Keegan O'Toole (Missouri ) has a 16-0, 98-4 career ledger. He is top-seeded at 174 pounds.

Defending NCAA team champion and Big Ten winner Penn State are the solid favorite at the 94th annual NCAA Championships in Philadelphia, PA, on March 20th-22nd, 2025. The Nittany Lions boast three NCAA champions, including four-time titlist Carter Starocci (21-0, 98-2 career)  LeviHaines (20-1) and Greg Kerkvliet  (18-1, 92 wins), along with NCAA finalist and top-ranked Mitchell Mesenbrink (22-0). Other top-tier teams are 
Oklahoma State with rookie coach David Taylor, Iowa, Nebraska, Northern Iowa,  Virginia Tech, Minnesota and Ohio State with legendary coachTommy Ryan(Wantagh HS).

Eight other returning NCAA champions are in the field, Richard Figueroa (16-2), Jesse Mendez, (25-3), 2023 winner Andrew Alirez, (16-1), both at 141, Caleb Henson (18-0), two-time champion Keegan O’Toole (16-0),  Parker Keckeisen (24-0), AJ Ferrari (17-0) and the recent return of two-time NCAA champ and Olympic gold medalist Gable Steveson (14-0, 102-2 career) in the rugged 285-pound bracket.

Once again, PA led theNCAA NationalQualifiers by state with 41, followed by OH (28), NJ/CA (26) and IL (24). The Empire State has 17 NCAA Qualifiers, including two returning All-Americans; Anthony Noto (20-6, 98-16) of HFalls-Lima HS, now Lock Haven and NCAA finalist Jacori Teemer (8-4, 98-18) of Long Beach HS. Other top NY natives are Stevo Poulin (20-3) of Shenendehowa HS, Max Gallagher (25-8) of Bayport HS-UPenn, at 125, a trio of 141-pounders; Jordan Titus (Center Moriches HS- West Virginia), Jayden Scott (Rush-Henrietta HS-NCarolina) and Jordan Soriano (Clarke HS-Drexel). Cornell, 2024 NCAA team runners-up, return a solid squad. The BigRed return NCAA bronze medalist MeyerShapiro (12-1), along with title contenders, rugged Julian Ramirez (20-1) and AA Chris Foca (19-1) in the loaded 184-pound bracket. Cornell also has Tyler Ferrara (12-5) of Chenango Forks, NY at 133 and  Simon Ruiz (22-5) at 174. The Big Red recently won the inaugural Ivy LeagueChampionships, at the historic Jadwin Gymnasium at Princeton University and qualified all ten wrestlers for the 2025 NCAA meet. Other schools with ten qualifiers are Penn State, Northern Iowa and Ohio State. Possible second round bout could see Meyer Shapiro (3rd in '24) vs Jacori Teemer (2nd in '24). Also looming as a potential match-up are the Stout brothers at 197, Mac (6th seed) from Pitt vs Luke (11th) from Princeton. Of the 330 wrestlers in the 2025 field, there are nine unbeatens, seven have been aforementioned, and the others are at 285 pounds. They are #2- Wyatt Hendrickson (22-0) of Oklahoma State and Lehigh's #4 seed, Owen Trephan (21-0).​​​​

No. 2 Levi Haines (19-1) of Penn State could meet third-seeded Dean Hamiti (22-1) of Okla State in the 174 pound semifinals.
