      Ten wrestlers enter the championship finals round unbeaten, including state champions Yianni Diakomihalis (42-0) at 106, Nick Piccininni (44-0) at 120, Shakur Rasheed (18-0) at 160 and Rich Sisti (37-0) in the 220-pound class. Others include Peter Pappas (40-0) at 106 Vito Arujau (44-0) at 113  Travis Passaro (49-0), at 126 VincentDePrez (45-0)  and Jakob Restrepo (44-0), both at 145, and Anthony DePrez (45-0) of Section Five power Hilton HS at 152 pounds. In the individual team standings, Hilton-5 has 36.5 points, followed by Penfield-5 (28), East Islip-11 (22.5), Johnson City-4 (20), and Eastport-South Manor-11 with 19 points.

                                         QUARTERFINAL UPDATE

      Defending sectional team champion Section XI (Suffolk County) leads the 52nd annual NYS Wrestling Championships with  98.5 points over Section I (83.5), Section V (81), Section VIII (Nassau County) with 76 and host Section II (55). Suffolk was led by reigning state champions Nick Piccininni (43-0) who had two tech falls; 19-2 and 16-0, at 120 and Shakur Rasheed (17-0) who posted a 15-0 tech fall and a pin at 2:46 in the 160-pound class. The blue-clad contingent advanced 15 wrestlers into the semi-finals and Nassau has 11 semifinalists. State kings Kyle Quinn (39-3)  posted an 11-1 major decision at 113 and Louis Hernandez (40-1) flattened his opponent at the 5:22 mark in the 152-pound class.
