DIVISION I
Section Eight sits in second place in the sectional team standings with 105.5 points and Section Eleven holds third place with 105. Leading the tournament is defending champion Section Nine (Catskills) with 113.5 points.
Long Island pushed 21 wrestlers into the semifinal round and are lead by two-time titlist MattMarlow (40-5) of Northport at 124, he will be pitted against Plainedge's Shane Dobbins (31-6) in the upper bracket. Marlow hopes to become LI's tenth three-time champion. The first Long Island wrestler to win three state titles was Bob Bury (115-3 career mark) of Calhoun in 1978. Bury was a four-time state placer (4-1-1-1) and later attended Penn State. In the bottom of that loaded weight class is Anthony Clem (45-5) of Wantagh. His twin brother Joseph (54-3) also advanced to the semi finals. Other all LI semi final features 2022 state king Dunia Sibomana (41-2) of Long Beach v Longwood's Anthony Lagala-Ryan (45-2) at 108 pounds. At 138 pounds, Sayville junior Leo Mongiello (38-5) upset Suffolk champion Camryn Howard (42-1) of Bellport with an exciting 7-5 quarterfinal win. Mongiello is now pitted against top-seeded Luke Nieto (49-1) of Plainedge.
Also advancing for Long Island were a pair of 118-pounders, Aidan Donahue (46-8) of Rocky Point and Lindy's Anthony Severino (36-1), Islip teammates, Jared Spahn (35-4) at 145 and Zach Miller (39-1) at 190. At 152 pounds are Brentwood junior Jason Kwaak (32-1) and Jesse Vanorden (44-2) of Wantagh. Kwaak will face top-seeded and Michigan commit Cameron Catrabone (222-19 career mark). Other LI finalists are EM's Matt Rodriguez (41-3), and the Plainedge tandem of sophomore Devin Downes (52-2) at 170 and potential state finalist Vincent Petzold (51-2) in the 285-pound class. One of those Red Devils hope to become the third state champion for their school, the first was Craig Vitagliano (98 pounds) in 1990.
In the team scoring, Plainedge with 48 points has a slight lead over St. Francis (47), Minisink Valley (40), Wantagh (33.5) and Middletown (32) after the semifinals.

DIVISION II
Four Long Island wrestlers advanced to the semi finals, including reigning state champion Tommy Aiello (32-6) of John Glenn. Aiello will meet #1 seeded Maverick Beckwith (27-2) of Norwich at 108 pounds. Another defending state king is Brayden Fahrbach (37-0) of Mt. Sinai at 138 pounds, he will face Patrick Grimsey (Lowville-3) in the semifinals.
Other semifinalists are SWR's freshman Gavin Mangano (49-1) at 131 pounds and CSH junior Greyson Meak (39-1) in the 190-pound bracket. Mangano is pitted against Justin Mullis (Hudson Falls-2) and Meak's semifinal opponent is Luke Van Gorden (Pal-Mac-5).
Defending team champion Tioga (103 points), a Section Four powerhouse, has a commanding lead over Palmyra-Macedon (46) and John Glenn (35).
