Mat Notes:

Rocky Point won their first-ever Suffolk County Championship team title over defending two-time winner Hauppauge at Suffolk CC- Brentwood campus. The Eagles crowned one champion Anthony Sciotto (43-2) who converted his granby roll to a fall in the finals en route to the 113-pound gold medal, he also won the Most Pins Award. ESM's two-time state champion sophomore Adam Busiello (31-1, 181-8) had a wild  back-and-forth match with two-time state placer Anthony Cirillo (21-3) of Rocky Point and rallied with a single-leg cutback counter for a dramatic third period pin and the 120-pound crown, he was voted the tournament's outstanding wrestler award. Hauppauge finished second in the team standings and emerged with two winners: unbeaten Ben Tepperman (26-0) at 126 and 2015 state finalist Jake Silverstein (37-1) at 138 pounds. Reigning state champion Terron Robinson (35-1, 122-24) of Walt Whitman avenged an earlier season loss to nemesis Damien Cafrey (38-1) of John Glenn with an exciting 8-6 victory at 220 pounds. Also claiming county titles were state runner-up Dylan Ryder (37-1) of Hills West at 106, Nick Munsch (160) of Commack, a pair of unbeatens: Zach Ancewicz (28-0) of John Glenn at 170 and Sam Schuyler (38-0) of Kings Park at 195, along with rugged Deonte Wilson (33-2), a junior from Amityville, in the 285-pound class.
