State champions Adam Busiello (44-0, 134-7), John Arceri (41-0, 178-22), Chris Mauriello (41-1) and Christian Araneo (38-0, 171-29) all won titles and should be top-seeded at the NYS Championships in their respective weight classes. Hauppauge and veteran coach of 34 years, Chris Messina, won their second consecutive Suffolk t eamtitle over rival Rocky Point. The Eagles crowned two champions; the aforementioned Mauriello (244-37 career) at 152 and Marcus Bisono (33-4) at 170, along with four other place-winners, including state finalist Jake Silverstein (35-4). Silverstein was defeated by OSW winner Anthony Sparacio (32-0, 176-42) of North Babylon at 120 pounds. Returning state bronze medalist and NHSCA junior national champion Tommy Cox (40-1, 159-24) of Deer Park rallied with a strong third period over nemesis and state placer Anthony Cirillo (34-2) of Rocky Point to capture the elusive 113-pound title. Sophomore standout Dylan Ryder (40-1) of Hills West won the loaded 99-pound bracket with a stunning first period pin in the finals, and is currently top-ranked in the state. State finalist Edwin Rubio (38-0, 140-11) needed overtime to edge Lindenhurst's Jon Solórzano (40-2), 3-1, for the 285-pound crown.
