Julian Medina ranked third at 116 pounds for Connetquot bumped up a weight to tech fall Islip's Joe Frangella at 124 pounds. The T-Birds advanced to semis with a 52-10 over The Buccaneers.
Connetquot's Zach Carlson works for a takedown on Islip's Jack Whitehouse. The fourth ranked Carlson picked up the fall at 138 pounds.

Unbeaten Connetquot (14-0), the returning 2024 runners-up, upended a gritty Islip squad, 52-10, and advanced to the semi finals to face PatchogueMedford (15-3) on Saturday. PM edged East Islip, 36-34, to advance in the tournament. The dual started at 170 pounds and Islip's Dylan Smith outlasted Andrew Amarando, and scored with a double leg takedown for an exciting 16-13 OT win. The T-Birds reeled off five consecutive victories paced by lightweights, scrappy David Yapyapan (101) who applied a tight half for a fall and Ethan Hauser who used a barrage of tight waist tilts en route to a tech fall at 108 and gave the host team a comfortable 26-3 lead. Legendary and National Hall-of-Fame coach Bill Santoro and able assistant Anthony Melfi have their well-balanced squad on the cusp of their first-ever Suffolk dual title. They might meet the winner of undefeated Bellport (14-0), a 36-33 winner over a talented Smithtown West squad, who upset #6 Sayville, 39-29, in their preliminary dual or a very tough Sachem North (13-1) squad who defeated defending champions, North Babylon, 36-31, in their opening match.
In the Suffolk final, Sachem North (15-1) avenged their early season loss to Connetquot (19-1) and edged them, 28-18, on a pivotal 4-3 win by Thomas Keegan over Julian Medina at 124 pounds. Head coach Anthony Marino will take his surging squad to the NYS Dual Meet Championships next weekend in Syracuse .
At the 7th annual NYS Dual Meet Championships, unseeded Sachem North vs Horesheads (Section Four), #3 and unbeaten Farmingdale vs Brockport (Section Five) and #4 Long Beach vs West Genesee (Section Three).
In the Divsion Two Tournament, undefeated and top-seeded John Glenn vs Peru (Section Seven), #3 Plainedge vs Port Jervis (Section Nine) and #4 Seaford vs Nanuet (Section One).
In Division One competition, there are six top-ranked matmen; sophomore Anthony Lagala Ryan (116) of Longwood, Mason Jacobellis (124) of Pat-Med, Bellport freshman Camryn Howard (138), Leo Mongiello (145) of Sayville, EI's Christian Horeis (190) and NB junior Jacob Ruiz at 215 pounds.
In Division Two, the two top squads are perennial power John Glenn and Shoreham-Wading River. Both squads return a reigning state champion, JG's senior Tommy Aiello (116) and nationally ranked SWR's sophomore GavinMangano at 138 pounds.
In the semifinals, JG rolled to a 50-7 victory over Port Jefferson and SWR upended Mattituck, 53-18.
Shoreham-Wading River looks to the lightweight tandem of underclassmen; Thomas Matias (101) and Shane Cowan at 108 pounds. Defending dual champion John Glenn points to Karahn King (131), Carmine Gerbino (215) and Elijah Porpora (285). In the 2024 final, JG edged SWR, 42-34, in an exciting dual that featured 12 falls.
In the championship dual unbeaten John Glenn (10-0) handled Shoreham Wading River, 42-29, and were paced by NYS champion, Tommy Aiello who posted a pin in his 116-pound bout. Veteran head coach T.J. Brocking and the Knights won their third consecutive title and will be a solid contender for the coveted Division Two dual meet title.
Islip's Spencer Nassir works a late third period cradle to upset second ranked Kai Shapiro of Connetquot 8-6 at 160 pounds.
