Aaron Brooks (86 kg / 189 lbs) - 2024 Olympic Bronze Medalist

4x NCAA Champion. - Aaron Brooks (from Maryland) won 4-3 in round of 16 and then posted an 11-1 win over Japan's Hayutu Ishiguro in the men's 86 kg quarterfinals. Brooks lost in the semis but came back with a solid 5-0 win over Javrail Shapiev of Uzbekistan to capture Olympic Bronze.

USA RESULTS... 


Kyle Snyder (from Maryland) won his first two matches 9-5 and 5-0 to make the semifinals at 97 kg. Snyder, the 3rd seed then lost to to the second seeded Akhmen Tazhudinov from Bahrain 6-4.  Snyder was the 2016 Olympic Gold Medlaist and the 2020 Olympic Silver medalist finished off the podium.


Kennedy Blades (from Illinois but wrestled for Wyoming Seminary) displayed some dominate wrestling in winning her first two matches and then beat the top seeded Aiperi Medet Kyzy from Krygyzstan 8-6. Blades only 20 years old won Olympic Silver in the women's 76 kg.


Kyle Dake (from New York) dominated his first two matches in the 74 kg bracket. He lost to fourth seed Diachi Takatani from Japan 20-12 in the semifinals. Dake, a 2020 Olympic Bronze Medalist beat Hetik Cabolov from Serbia 10-4 to win the Olympic Bronze.


Spencer Lee (from Pennsylvania) won 3-2 in the round of 16 and then beat Bekzat Almaz Uulu from Krygyzstan 12-2 to move into the 57 kg semifinals. Lee won 14-4 in the semifinals over Gulomjon Abdullaev from Uzbekistan. Lee lost to top seeded Higuchi Rei from Japan, 4-2 in the finals and earned his Olympic Silver Medal.

Helen Maroulis (from Maryland) a 2016 Olympic Gold Medalist and 2020 Olympic Bronze Medalist advanced into today's semifinals at 57 kg. Maroulis came back with a 4-0 win in the Olympic Bronze Medalmatch.


Amit Elor  (from California) wins 3-0 in the women's 68kg freestyle final and claims USA's first wrestling Gold Medal of the Paris Games. She had won 10-0 in the semis and outscored her opponents 31-2 over four matches. Elor becomes the youngest wrestler (20 years old) to win the Olympic Gold Medal.


Sarah Hildebrandt  (from Indiana) won the women's 50 kg gold medal for Team USA. Hildebrandt a bronze medalist in Tokyo 2020 and Pan Am gold medalist made the women's 50kg final with a 5-0 win in the semis. In the final, Hildebrandt (30 years old), blanked Cuba's Yusneylis Gomez Lopez 3-0 for the coveted Olympic Gold.




MAT NOTES...


Cuba's Mijain Lopez  (41 years old) made history by winning his 5th Olympic Gold Medal in the 130kg Greco-Roman final. He is the only Olympian to win Five Consecutive Gold Medals in the same individual event from 2008 Beijing, 2012 London, 2016 Rio, 2020 Tokyo, and 2024 Paris. He retired from the sport as he left his wrestling shoes on the mat...
