Wantagh (15-2) defeated rival Plainedge (11-2), 39-27, in a hotly contested dual meet amongst two of Nassau's top teams. The Warriors were paced by 2013 state champion Kyle Quinn (12-0) at 120 and lightweight stars Justin Vines (17-2) at 99 and Jonathan Loew (20-2) at 106. Both Vines and Loew recorded first period falls and Quinn applied a tight spiral/half for a second period pin. A pivotal bout at 147 saw Wantagh's Blaise Kavanagh (22-3) blank Joe Loconte, 5-0, and give the host team a 33-27 lead with one bout remaining in the dual. At 152 pounds, the Warriors Andrew Eget posted a third period fall and clinched the dual for the home team. Plainedge had key performances turned in by all-county matmen, Hector Guerrero (16-2) at 126, Anthony Bowles (13-1) at 182 and Andrew Rakitzis (17-3) at 195. Guerrero used his double leg takedowns and bar/arms for a solid 11-4 win and both Bowles and Ratkitzis posted decisions. The dual started at 160 and saw Plainedge's Jacob Schozer edge Nick Rogers, as Schozer scored with a strong double leg takedown and emerged with an exciting 4-2 OT victory. The Red Devil's Ben Re stunned the home crowd as he slapped on a tight cross/face cradle and registered a first period pin to pulled the visitors to 30-27 in the team score.
